On Thursday, July 4th, THS Modern History and Legal Studies students had the privilege of attending an enlightening and engaging presentation by Daryl Le Cornu.

Daryl Le Cornu, a dedicated teacher, textbook author, and fervent advocate for the abolition of nuclear weapons, is a prominent member of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).

He spoke passionately about the existential threat nuclear weapons pose to our world today, and how the world can address this threat. ICAN's instrumental work on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons earned the organisation the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017.

As a special treat, Daryl brought the Nobel medallion for students to see and hold.

In addition to addressing key elements of both the Modern History and Legal Studies syllabis, Daryl aimed to inspire our students to become active, informed citizens through the sharing of his experiences and knowledge.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Daryl for his time and invaluable insights.
