Parliament House visit

5 Images in this album

Two of our students from Yr 11 had the opportunity to spend the day at Parliament House.

Here is a recap of their day, thank you Anna and Souyma.

The day started off with a Q&A session with many members of parliament. They were very welcoming and shared their stories and journeys to be a part of parliament. There were many interesting questions asked about climate change, the GFC, the housing crisis, teachers pay and more. This time was very enjoyable to hear their opinions and future plans.

After that we went to sit in on parliamentary hearings which were very enjoyable. Many different topics were raised and we saw the president and many ministers on their last day before holidays. The room was beautiful unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos there at the time.

Before lunch we met with MP Matt Kean, and discussed issues closer to us. Unfortunately Alister Henkins was not there today but we were able to talk to Matt Kean more personally. He explained what the referendum is about and how we could help raise voice and awareness. He also asked us about our concerns and what we want to see in the future which was very exciting as well.

Then we had a lovely tour of the governor's house. It was about 30 mins and we learnt so much we did not know before and took heaps of photos. We met the governor's secretary and he talked to us about the history of the house and more.

Overall today was amazing and thank you so much for giving us the opportunity.

We loved it and learnt so much.
