Throughout Term Two, 17 of our year 10 students have been working intensely in a RFS Cadet program.
Our cadets have learned about fire risks, how to extinguish fires , how to roll out hoses in the event of a fire, how to start the fire trucks and make calls over the radio, how to start the water pumps for the hoses, how to adjust the nozzle for different types of fires, how to bunker down in the fire trucks in case of a fire over-run, learning about leadership, co-operation, teamwork and camaraderie.
Well done to all involved and thank you to the many volunteers from Ku-uring-gai, Westleigh and Cherrybrook RFS, as well as Superintendent Gary Hansen and Damien Fear - Manager Community Risk, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai District for officiating at the ceremony..
