Year 9 visit Botanical Gardens

5 Images in this album

As part of their unit on "Food in Australia" Year 9 students participated in a First Nations guided tour through the Sydney Botanic Gardens to learn more about Indigenous bush foods.

They identified traditional plants and trees and appreciated their traditional uses as well as their acceptance on modern plates and palates in today's marketplace.

We later enjoyed lunch at Chatswood to experience the diverse multicultural influence on our current eating trends. A spectacular day enjoyed exploring our cultural culinary heritage.

Popcorn - Popcorn with ground bush tomatoes

Dough - Damper using various bush herbs and seeds

Drink cups - Traditional bush /berry infused tea

We also tried kangaroo meatballs with finger lime chutney
